A Skeptic Transformed: The Power of the Risen Christ

Few people have had a more dramatic change of heart than the Apostle Paul. He wasn’t just indifferent to Christianity—he was actively trying to destroy it (Acts 8:3). Yet in a moment, everything changed. On the road to Damascus, the risen Jesus appeared to him, and the greatest persecutor of the church became its greatest preacher (Acts 9:3-6).  “Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.” —1 Corinthians 15:8 (ESV)

Skeptics today often dismiss Christianity as wishful thinking. But what changed Paul? What turned Jesus’ brother, James, from a doubter (John 7:5) into a leader of the early church (Galatians 1:19)? What caused fearful disciples to proclaim Christ boldly, even to the point of death? The only explanation is that they saw Jesus alive.

The resurrection doesn’t just change history—it changes hearts. Maybe you’ve wrestled with doubt. Perhaps you feel like you’re too far gone for God’s grace. But the same Jesus who met Paul in his rebellion meets us in our brokenness. He doesn’t wait for us to clean ourselves up—He comes to us with mercy offering new life.

Paul’s life after meeting Christ wasn’t easy—he endured suffering, beatings, and imprisonment (2 Corinthians 11:23-28). But he never wavered. Why? Because he had seen the risen Lord.

If the resurrection is true, nothing else matters more. Have you encountered the living Christ?

Has He transformed your heart like He did Paul’s?

No one is beyond the reach of God’s grace. The risen Jesus still changes lives today.
