Seeing is Believing: The Power of Eyewitness Testimony

Have you ever wondered if your faith is built on solid ground? In a world where truth seems relative, and skepticism is high, the resurrection of Jesus stands as an unshakable foundation. It’s not a myth, legend, or wishful thinking—it’s a historical event backed by eyewitness testimony.

Paul, writing to the Corinthians, reminds them of the many who saw the risen Christ: Peter, the disciples, James, over 500 witnesses, and even Paul himself (1 Corinthians 15:3-8). If the resurrection were a hoax, it would have fallen apart under scrutiny. The apostle Paul says that many of these witnesses were still alive and could’ve been questioned.

Instead, those who saw Jesus alive were willing to die for their testimony. People sometimes die for a false belief, but no one knowingly dies for a lie.

The resurrection isn’t just a theological idea; it has real-life implications. If Jesus is alive, our sins are truly forgiven, death is defeated, and our hope is secure (1 Corinthians 15:17-19). The same Jesus who transformed fearful disciples into bold witnesses and turned skeptics like James and persecutors like Paul into passionate preachers is still transforming lives today.

So, what does this mean for you? First, let your faith rest not on feelings but on truth. Christianity isn’t a blind leap—it’s trust in the One who walked out of the grave. Second, share this truth. If the resurrection is real, it’s the most important news in history. Who in your life needs to hear it?

Finally, live in light of the resurrection. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is at work in you (Romans 8:11). Fear loses its grip, sin’s chains are broken, and hope replaces despair. Because He lives, we can face tomorrow with confidence.

Do you genuinely believe in the resurrection?
