Worry and anxiety have taken over society. We are overwhelmed by news from every corner of the earth. Social media wants us to believe that everyone is living some perfect life, while we are insufficient. So instead of worrying, here are three verses to think about and meditate on.
REPLACE WORRY WITH PRAYER
Prayer says, “God, I can’t handle this, and I need you to.” It takes our burdens off of ourselves and hands them to Him.
Philippians 4:6 “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
TRUST IN THE WORK OF THE SPIRIT
Often worry is birthed from fear, but every Christian has the Holy Spirit living inside you. God’s spirit places a new spirit in us. That spirit reminds us God is powerful and He can handle anything and everything.
II Timothy 1:7 “for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
WAIT ON GOD’S TIMING
Worry often comes when we have to wait for something good to happen or evil to stop. Instead of worrying, we need to wait. God’s timing is not ours. His timing is always perfect.
Isaiah 40:31 “but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
When you worry, do you pray? When you are anxious, do you rely on the Holy Spirit? When things are not happening in your timing, do you trust Him? Replace worry with prayer, trust, and patience for God to accomplish what He says He will.
