What is a blog? Technically it is entries posted on the internet in reverse order. A blog is more than that though. The more you read a blog, the more you get to know the author. You find out the author’s strengths and weaknesses. A blog is also an invitation to throw rocks at windows.
It is said that those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones, but authors who live in the blogosphere can be likened to living in glass houses in the middle of rock fields. I have seen many blogs where people berate the the authors because they have a different stance on an issue.
Which answers the question, why don’t most pastors blog? Because it can open them up to a variety of criticism they would not have if they just refused to write. As you read this blog I hope that you would be able to give me grace. Text is not always a perfect way to communicate, especially when the communication is one way.
Here’s what I’m asking you to remember. Blog posts are short. I can not in any way cover the gamut of questions or angles on any one topic. If you would like to converse with me about a subject, try to stick to the main point of what is being said. This blog will not be monitored 24/7 to answer or respond to questions. We can still be friends, even if we disagree. At some point I will address my understanding of what tolerance really is. I have been able to maintain relationships for years with atheists, agnostics, those with different views than myself, and even Dallas Cowboys fans. We can agree to disagree.
That being said, what will this blog be about? This blog is going to cover a variety of topics. It’s going to address concerns with money, family, theology, philosophy, and church practice. It is,of course, coming from a presuppositional understanding of the Christian perspective as that is where my faith lies. You may see an article you love, then feel the next one doesn’t pertain to you. Come back! The topics will be changing more than a thirteen year old girl getting ready for school. I hope you enjoy the blog.
