3 Reasons to be Thankful to God This Thanksgiving

There is no doubt that Thanksgiving is not the only time that Christians have to be thankful. That being said, it is not wrong that we set aside a specific holiday to do such a thing. Here are 3 reasons Christians can give thanks to God this season.

  1. GIVE THANKS FOR HIS ENDURING LOVE

The first thing that we can be thankful for is God’s enduring love. This is getting specific and moving beyond the love of God itself. Thinking specifically about His enduring love, we want to focus on two things. The first is that God loves us, even when we don’t deserve it. He endures it through times in our lives when we fall away from Him, neglect Him, or disobey Him. The second part of enduring love is to consider the length of time. Not only does He endure these trials we put Him through, but He does so eternally. He doesn’t give up on us. His love lasts forever.

Psalms 100:4-5 “Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His presence continually! Remember the wondrous works that He has done, his miracles, and the judgments He uttered,”

  1. GIVE THANKS FOR YOUR SPIRITUAL GROWTH

The second reason we have for giving thanks is that God continues to grow us spiritually. He doesn’t just save us and leave us where we are, but He grows us into the likeness of Christ. He molds us into who He wants us to be intellectually, mentally, emotionally, fiscally, relationally, and many other ways.

Colossians 2:6-7 “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”

  1. GIVE THANKS NO MATTER YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES

The last reason that we can be thankful is because, no matter our trial in life, God can use it for His ultimate eternal purpose. Nothing that happens as a part of His Kingdom will go to waste.

Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.”

We can be thankful that while there may be a temporary trial, nothing – not even evil or pain – is wasted in God’s Kingdom. Everything that is happening to us in life can be used for God’s glory.

I Thessalonians 5:16-18  “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Would you take time right now to thank God for what He is doing in your life? Thank Him for His enduring love, the spiritual growth He has done in you, and that no matter what you are going through, He can and will use it for His glory.
